Sireen in Color by RickF7666 Sireen in Color by RickF7666
This is a colored version of one of my characters from my superhero group Montage. An early version of the group can be seen here. [link]

The idea for this character came as a result of an X-Factor story, where they went to a planet where everyone was a mutant. A lot of those mutants were physically different and I wanted to come up with one of my own, but something that hadn't already been done a thousand times before.

She isn't actually a "mutant" in the Marvel sense. She was genetically altered against her will. She started life as a Japanese American, a little petite but not excessively so. Now she stands just four feet tall, with her wings topping out at just around six feet and she is covered in short white fur.

Her powers are sonic based, but not the blast you with sound like every other sonic based character I've ever seen. Her powers are more subtle than that. She uses various sound frequencies to alter mood and make subjects more susceptible to suggestion.

As with other pictures on my account this was not drawn by me, although I did add the color. This is another picture drawn for me by Richard Konkle way back in 1997.

Um, I love this character. Beautiful design. Great smile and I love that hair!
I liked winged charters as a kid. Hawkman and the Wasp were the best. Sadly, as much as I tried, I could never get into The Falcon.
Wings are cool but I used to wonder, could it be difficult to get through doors? Yeah, I know stupid question. :D

I don't think it is a stupid question, mostly because I've thought of that as well.  I've come up with two things to address the issue of fitting through doors.  First she is only four feet tall and her wings top out at around six feet.

The other thing is I read about how butterflies come out of the cocoon their wings are rolled up and there are veins that then fill up causing the wings to become stiff.  This should sound familiar to any male.  Well the thought occurred to me why can't the reverse happen and the wings drain and curl back up.  I don't as yet have a picture of her like that.  It would make sleeping and other activities easier without the large wings unfurled.

My other character with wings, Icewing, is a different matter entirely.  He is big and powerful enough that he doesn't concern himself with the size of a doorway he wants to get through.  Fun times.

Cool! The wings that withdraw and curl up, great idea.
Icewing don't care eh? Doors mean nothing to him... :giggle:

Well all of my superhero characters were originally Champions RPG characters and Icewing has a disadvantage called "Careless disregard for property/life".  I don't know if you've seen the group picture that my friend Rich drew of my team, but if you look you can see that Icewing is... well, not human.

Also drew a picture of Sireen and Icewing…
He did get a couple of details wrong like Sireen doesn't have a nose, but hey I'm always glad when someone draws my characters without asking for money.

And I did post a short story with Icewing in it.…

actually thats not too might want to look at textures for the clothing and try off setting the colors of the wings to her make it seem like the wings are artificial like cloths are. my opinion

Well if I could do more than flats that would make the cloths look a lot better. I've been reading things about light and shadow and color theory lately, but it is still confusing to me.

If you want to see a great colorist check out the work of [link] She has done a lot of work for DC over the last few years.
